DeployedThe President calls for additional troops in Afghanistan. Pentagon experts ask if the United States has enough troops and equipment to fulfill the many demands–from fighting terrorists to peacekeeping operations–placed on the military. Blue IceThe University of Michigan hockey team completed the 2008-09 regular season with a win on February 28 over Ferris State. The Wolverines led the league statistically in offense and defense, giving many fans high hopes that the season will end with trips to the CCHA Tournament and possibly even the Frozen Four in Washington, DC, April 9-11. As the hockey team prepares for its first opponent in the CCHA quarterfinals (Western Michigan, March 13-15), fans were pleased to read that Coach Red Berenson would be extending his contract (which was to have expired at the end of this season). The University of Michigan Press’s Blue Ice: The Story of Michigan Hockey by John U. Bacon was cited in this recent Ann Arbor News story: [link].
