The best and brightest of 2013’s books of “commendable literary quality and significant authentic LGBT content” have been collected by the American Library Association for readers and librarians alike. The 2013 Over the Rainbow List is a compilation of 84 titles that includes Jason Ciancotto and Sean Cahill’s LGBT Youth in America’s Schools.

Ciancotto and Cahill present a review of public policy affecting LGBT students, with research and a retellling of personal accounts of  discrimination. The book has received numerous favorable reviews and commendations, and the authors have made their case for safe and inclusive schools in several op-eds and interviews.
