Congratulations to 2015 University of Michigan Press Book Award Winners Andrei Markovits and Katherine Crosby!

Conrgatulations to Dr. Andrei Markovits and Katherine Crosby, the most recent recipients of the University of Michigan Press Book Award! They received the 2015 award for their book, From Property to Family, which details the cultural history and cultural impact of dog rescue in the United States.

“We are immensely honored, delighted and humbled for being given this prestigious award by such a prestigious university press that publishes so many fine books,” Markovits said in response to learning his book had won. “To have our work be chosen as the winner among them by a jury of our peers is especially meaningful to us.”

The award is given to a member of the university teaching and research staff, including emeritus members, whose book has added the greatest distinction to the Press list. Recent winners include:

For Markovits and Crosby, the book was a labor of love.

“We regard this prize with added delight by dint of our book's topic which does not only bespeak our scholarly interest and commitment but also our personal passion," Markovits said.
