Author Lia Khami-Stein Receives the David E. Eskey Memorial Award for Curriculum Innovation

Eskey Memorial Award for Curriculum Innovation at the 2014 CATESOL Conference in Santa Clara, California, for “Narrating Their Lives: Examining English Language Teachers’ Professional Identities within the Classroom” (2013.)

“Narrating Their Lives” examines the process of identity construction of classroom teachers in order to make connections between their personal and professional identities and their instructional practices. The book is the result of material she has used for several years in her Educational Sociolinguistics course in the MA Program at California State University, Los Angeles.

She is also editor of “Learning and Teaching from Experience: Perspectives on Nonnative English-speaking Professionals” (2004) from the University of Michigan Press.
