Jackie Ormes to be inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists' Hall of Fame

Jackie Ormes, whose life and work Nancy Goldstein documented in Jackie Ormes: The First African American Woman Cartoonist, will be posthumously inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists’ Hall of Fame at their annual meeting in Washington, D. C. on January 16, 2014. The NABJ is honoring Ormes for her portrayal of black female characters who challenged stereotypes of the time, as well as her service to the profession and the African American community.
