Blizzard Entertainment declares that World of Warcraft posters will have to use ‘RealID’ – full first and last names – to post in forums; author Bonnie Nardi responds

Yesterday, Blizzard Entertainment, developers of Warcraft, announced that starting towards the end of this month, all posters on the official Blizzard forums – and there are thousands – will have to post using the game’s RealID system, which identifies players by their real first and last names. Previously, forum posters could use the character name of their choice to post anonymously.

The University of Michigan Press released Bonnie Nardi’s new book on the online world video game World of Warcraft this week.
